On to the OUTBACK

Well we have spent lots so time in the bus. This country is a very big place and now we take a plane to travel to the Northern Territory Ayers Rock, Ulurua and the land of aborigines.
Northern Territory flag.

The School of the Air.  A school for students who live in the remote areas of the Northern Territory .  All students (about 200 ) live at least 50 kilometers from Alice Springs and they do their school all by way of computers with a live teacher and interaction with all the students.  Kids in this school complete there schooling in the top 10% of all Austraila's students.
Connected the entire country by telegraph making it possible to communicate efficiently.

Visits to the Telegraph office and then out to the OUTBACK for a BBQ including a boomerang demonstration, a Australian sing-a-long, bread baked on the open fire, beef steaks and beer and a gaze at the stars ended a fun night.
This cowboy could throw a mean boomerang, bake bread on an open fire, bbq a tender steak and sing cowboy songs too.
The flight to Uluru was about an hour. The clouds both in New Zealand and Australia were the most unusual and beautiful clouds I've ever seen.

Now this guy showed us how to throw a non-returning boomerang, which is what the natives used to hunt. They would throw it and disable the animal by cutting it's legs out from under it.
Betsey takes a toss
Steve takes a toss and this time you can see the target.
Ron's turn.
These people were hunter gatherers and this is some of what they ate.
And this little grub is food as well.

The Aborigines and the paintings they made that I purchased.

Kangaroo tail prepared by the natives in the fire.

It is HOT out here, and the flies are pesky.
